What Separates Us Smartphone Photographers from the Pros

Given how good smartphone cameras have become, it’s relatively easy to take a good-looking picture (especially coupled with a versatile photo-editing app).  Run of the mill point-and-shoot digital camera are powerful enough to take a very high-quality shot.  So what is it that professional photographers do take to their photos to the next level?

Last night, event photographer Andrew Coutts posted a video showcasing the intensive process he goes through while editing pictures.  Thankfully he’s sped the hour’s worth of Adobe Lightroom work up 2500%, so we’re spared the time-consuming process.

You begin to really appreciate the ones sitting behind the lens all night when you learn this hours worth of work yielded only half of the photos used from a SoMo concert at Wayside Central (located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan) this past weekend.
